Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup self-rising flour

    • Or 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1.5 tsp baking powder + ¼ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup plain full-fat or low-fat Greek yogurt, plus 1-2 tablespoons if needed

  • ¼ teaspoon salt (if using self-rising flour, omit additional salt)

For the Toppings:

  • ⅓ cup pizza sauce

  • ¾ cup ground chicken or turkey sausage, cooked

  • ⅓ cup chopped yellow onion

  • ⅓ cup chopped bell pepper

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, loosely packed

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using all-purpose flour, combine it with baking powder and salt in a large bowl to make self-rising flour.

  2. Make the Dough:

    • Add Greek yogurt and additional salt (if using all-purpose flour) to the flour mixture. Stir to combine until a dough forms. If the dough is too thick, add more yogurt, 1 tablespoon at a time. If it's too thin, add a sprinkle of flour.

  3. Form the Dough Ball:

    • Use your hands to shape the dough into a smooth ball, ensuring all the dry flour is incorporated. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Cover the dough ball completely in flour to prevent it from sticking.

  4. Roll Out the Dough:

    • Transfer the dough ball to a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a circle or rectangle, about ¼ inch thick, using a rolling pin or a smooth bottle.

  5. Transfer the Dough:

    • Carefully transfer the rolled dough to a lightly floured baking dish or pizza stone. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ¼ inch border around the edges.

  6. Add Toppings:

    • Sprinkle the cooked ground sausage, chopped onion, and bell pepper evenly over the pizza crust. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

  7. Bake the Pizza:

    • Bake the pizza for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is browned and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown. Rotate the pan once halfway through the baking time.

  8. Serve:

    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and enjoy!

This quick and easy protein pizza is a perfect option for a high-protein meal that satisfies your pizza cravings!
