Philly Cheesesteak Bowls
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
½ cup beef broth
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 green bell peppers, diced
8 mushrooms, diced
4 slices provolone cheese
Instructions:
Cook Ground Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Add Flavorings:
To the cooked beef, stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Remove the beef mixture from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté Vegetables:
Using the same skillet, add the olive oil and heat for about a minute over medium heat. Add the diced onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables have softened.
Combine Beef and Vegetables:
Return the beef mixture to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Serve with Cheese:
Option 1: Divide the hot beef and vegetable mixture evenly into four bowls. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of each bowl, allowing the heat to melt the cheese.
Option 2: Alternatively, you can spread the sliced provolone cheese evenly over the mixture while it's still in the skillet to allow the cheese to melt faster. Then, divide the mixture into four servings.
For those who enjoy carbs, consider serving some of the mixture on a toasted, buttered bun or hoagie roll for an extra treat.
